LogTime is a timer that was made for freelancers like us who have to keep a note of the hours that weve worked for our clients. But, if youre like us, also never seem to get around to writing out our invoices on the day!

Often a timer will forget the event it was timing as soon as its closed, LogTime provides the unique option to save the hours youve worked to the Calendar on your iPhone for future reference. Or even email someone with the work details its recorded and written out with wording that you choose.

Once youve started the timer running at the beginning of your work youll also have the option to time your meal breaks (for those of us with clients that like to know how long weve spent over our bowl of soup)! LogTime will keep track of the time even when its sent to the background if you need to run another app or to use the phone.

Whilst the timer is running you can amend the time that you started work (in case you forgot to press start when you shouldve) and change the number of hours and minutes youve had as a break.

Because the Calendar on iPhones wont record an event thats less than a minute in duration from LogTime, the add event button wont be active until there is at least a minute on the main timer display. The work break mini timer appears after youve started timing and then stays on whilst the app is running.

Each work thats timed can be called by a unique name. Simply tap in the Work Title to bring up the keyboard and enter a one line title. The return key will dismiss the keyboard.

At any point you can assign contacts to be emailed with the details. Pressing the assign button will present you with a list of your iPhones contacts. Each contact with an email can be selected once to add them to the list of people youll email and once again to remove them. Theres also a button to deselect all the contacts youve added and so start with a clean, empty list again. Theres also an index on the right hand side of the screen - like the Contacts app in iPhone - to let you quickly jump through the list.

In preferences you have 3 options plus a definable template for the emails that you get LogTime to send out.

The first option is to Auto start on icon tap which - when on - will mean that LogTime starts the timer running as soon as youve clicked its icon in the home screen (if the timers already been started and the app is coming out of the background then it will just continue timing). Starting the app, starts the timer.

Quick add events: Normally, when the add event button is pressed then LogTime will display the usual system Calendar screen that lets you change the details of the event. Turning this option off will let LogTime use the current details automatically for quicker Calendar entry.

Ask for confirmation before Quick Add gives you an option to record events even quicker so that LogTime wont ask for any input at all before putting an event on your Calendar. When its on an alert pops up if you try to quick add an event.

The Email Template is the text that LogTime uses in emails it sends. Click anywhere in this box of text to bring up the keyboard as well as some macro buttons to put placeholders in your text. For instance, as youre typing the text "My work started at: " press the [Start] button and a placeholder will be inserted that LogTime will replace with the actual start time when it emails someone. So the text that might be then sent in an email would read "My work started at: 13:35 on 06/02/2012" (or at whenever it is you start timing) but in the template box it will appear as "My work started at: ~start~".
